Title

For Governor: John W. Gordon, Barre, Vermont, 1930

Description

Pamphlet published by John W. Gordon's campaign for the Republican nomination for Governor of Vermont. On the cover is a halftone portrait of the candidate. The text is divided into eleven sections, the first eight of which focus on Gordon's tax related plans, including support of instituting an income tax, a gasoline tax, and an intangible tax. Point number nine describes Gordon's method of campaigning. Referencing his inability to buy ad space, readers are asked to circulate this pamphlet and other campaign literature in support of his candidacy. Gordon, a sitting member of the Vermont House of Representatives lost this primary to Stanley C. Wilson, who served as Governor from 1931-1935.
