Sample Ballot of the Nominees of the Republican Party, Randolph, Vermont, 1894

Republican party literature in the form of a sample ballot from Randolph, Vermont for the state and county election held on Tuesday, September 4, 1894. At the top of the sample ballot, voters are urged to vote the straight Republican ticket. On the reverse side is a text with the heading "NOW VOTE!" Here, party leaders extoll the importance of Vermont Republicans voting to "let the world know what they think of the new tariff," commenting on its impact on the local agricultural economy. They write that voting is every Republican's "first duty" but then "he should see that his friends vote. This is as much his duty as the casting of his own ballot. Make it your personal business to seek out and get to the polls the aged, the infirm, the procrastinating, and all others who may not 'get there' unless they are looked after." The writers conclude, "You cannot have the full benefit of your influence anywhere unless you vote."
