Third Kunin Inaugural Gown
Title
Third Kunin Inaugural Gown
Creator
Horseman, Elaine
Description
Evening gown worn by Governor Madeleine Kunin at her third inaugural ball. Designed by Elaine Horseman of Essex Junction with Kunin's input. This gown shows the slimmer, draped silhouette coming in to style in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The combination of satin (in the collar) and velvet (for the body and skirt) proved difficult to stitch together, but the final effect is dramatic and more high-fashion than either of the two previous gowns.
