Description
View of a small gas station at 1097 US Route 302, Barre, Vermont, from the vantage point of across the highway. The station has signs advertising "Highway Oil" at 54 cents a gallon, and a hand painted sign "Open No Limit" in reference to gas rationing during the OPEC oil embargo of 1973-74. In the foreground there is a handwritten sign grounded with concrete blocks stating "Fill Up." A pedestrian can be seen running across the road. Today (2021) this is the site of a larger gas station, but the original building can still be seen at the back of the expanded convenience store.
