Title

Letter from the Executive Committee, Randolph Republican Club, 1888

Description

Letter from the Executive Committee of the Randolph Republican Club dated August 31, 1888 apparently sent along with an address of the Republican State Committee to the voters of Vermont and a copy of the Republican ticket. The letter urges Republicans to show up at the polls the following Tuesday, for the state and local election and vote using the enclosed ticket: the Regular Republican Ticket. This is an excellent example of the nineteenth century practice of political parties distributing ballots in the form of tickets, rather than election officials providing standardized ballots for each voter. This made split ticket voting logistically difficult.
