Creator

Description
Pamphlet published by the Communist Party of the State of Vermont, based in Barre, in support of the candidacy of Fred Gardner for Governor. The front cover of the pamphlet outlines Gardner's biography and qualifications for the job, including his work with the marble strikers of Rutland County. The interior text is addressed "To the people of Vermont," with messages to farmers, trade unionists and unorganized workers, and merchants and small business men. Outlined here is the party's eight point platform, which included improved wages and working conditions, a proposal for affordable electricity powered by a series of publically owned dams, protections for farmers, youth, and women workers, and a stance against war and fascism. At the end of the pamphlet, there is a list of the party's full state and national ticket: Fred Gardner (Governor), Thomas Cerasoli (Lieutenant-Governor), Elizabeth Thow (Secretary of State), and Carl A. Melen (Representative in Congress), Earl Browder (President), and James W. Ford (Vice-President).
