Partridge for United States Senator. The ad features a large seated portrait of Partridge, credited to Harris & Ewing, a Washington, DC photographic studio. Under the headline "Trained for the office," the ad outlines Partridge's qualifications for the job, which include his service as the Private Secretary to Secretary of War Redfield Proctor, Consul-general at Tangier, and United States Minister to Venezuela. This election was a Republican primary held in March 1931 to select the party's nominee in the special election to fill the Senate seat left vacant after the death of Frank L. Greene. Partridge had been appointed to the seat by Governor John E. Weeks in December 1930, but would lose this primary to Warren R. Austin. This advertisement also ran in Italian on February 7, 1931 in the Italian language newspaper The Informer of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
