Description
President Calvin Coolidge is photographed with his recreation committee, May 6, 1924. The committee included Secretary of War Department John W. Weeks, Secretary of the Interior Department Hubert Work, Secretary Henry C. Wallace of the Agriculture Department, Secretary Herbert Hoover of the Commerce Department, and Assistant Secretary Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., of the Navy Department. The committee was charged with creating a national policy to put recreational opportunities within the grasp of poor as well as wealthy Americans.
