National Republican Ticket, Garfield and Arthur, 1880

Republican ticket for Vermont electors for President and Vice President of the United States, James Garfield and Chester Arthur. Illustrated with elaborately framed woodcut portraits of Garfield and Arthur, the ticket lists the five candidates for Vermont's five electors: Willam Y.W. Ripley, William W. Lynde, James K. Batchelder, Sumner S. Thompson, and David H. Beattie. Vermont's five electoral votes would go to Garfield and Arthur. Arthur, a Vermont native, would become president in September 1881, following Garfield's assassination.
