Connie Hassett-Walker discusses changes to her research and teaching as a professor at Kean University in New Jersey and Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, during the COVID-19 pandemic. She describes the circumstances of her initial transition to online classes while she was still in New Jersey in March 2020. She moved to Vermont and began at Norwich University in July 2020 and explains the experience of relocating during the pandemic. She recalls her adjustment to both hybrid learning and a new university, and contrasts her experience at Norwich with her impressions of her daughter's experience as a college student at James Madison University. She also talks about her research, including a Vermont Biomedical Research Network research grant she received for a project on the pandemic's impact on substance abuse recovery programs in Vermont.
Connie Hassett-Walker completed her doctorate in criminal justice at Rutgers University in 2007. She also received a master's degree in public administration from the Wagner Graduate School at New York University. At the time of this interview in 2024, she was an associate professor at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. In 2022, she received a grant from the Vermont Biomedical Research Network for her project "What is the Impact of COVID-19 on Substance Abusers' Recovery?"
