Oral history interview with Greg Stefanski
Title
Oral history interview with Greg Stefanski
Description
Greg Stefanski discusses his work with health and human services agencies and organizations in Lamoille County, Vermont, during the COVID-19 pandemic. He describes partnering with Heather Hobart (at the Lamoille Restorative Center) and Corey Perpall RN (at Copley Hospital) to bring together a group of partners who could collaborate to identify needs as well as find and distribute resources. The group was introduced to the concept of incident command structure and ultimately Stefanski, Hobart, and Perpall shared the incident commander role, allowing them to support each other and share decision-making. At its peak, their group consisted of 40 people representing multiple agencies. They provided resources and guidance to individuals, communities, and employers around health and safety issues. However, Stefanski notes that they were not prepared to assist companies with broader financial and business decisions. He identifies instituting the Findhelp app to assist with referrals between agencies as one particularly long-term outcome of their collaboration.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Greg Stefanski served in a variety of roles related to health and human services in Lamoille County, Vermont. He was executive director at Laraway Youth & Family Services in Johnson, Vermont, for many years and moved from that role into more consulting work around 2019. He was working fulltime as the Lamoille Area Manager at Capstone Community Action when the pandemic began in 2020 and was part of the Lamoille Area Health and Human Services Response Command Center (LAH2S-RCC) during the pandemic.
