Title

Oral history interview with Nathalie Hebert

Description

Nathalie Hebert of Norwich, Vermont, discusses her work as a nurse practitioner during the COVID-19 pandemic. She describes the pandemic's impact on the populations of homeless and uninsured individuals that she served in the Upper Valley and explains the decision to close the clinic where she worked and instead maintain services remotely or through visits to homeless encampments and motels. About one quarter of their clinic's patients were unhoused while roughly the other three quarters had housing but were uninsured. She notes that telehealth was especially difficult for the unhoused population since many patients did not have reliable access to cell phones or other technology. She talks about how her work changed once the vaccines arrived, including conversations with patients who felt hesitant about being vaccinated. More personally, she relates how she coped with stress through gardening and other activities. She also touches on family members' experiences transitioning to online college and remote work at Dartmouth Health.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nathalie Hebert of Norwich, Vermont, was a nurse practitioner and one of two salaried employees at the Good Neighbor Health Clinic in White River Junction, Vermont. Her career in nursing spanned over 30 years.
