Oral history interview with Jane Trevaskis
Title
Oral history interview with Jane Trevaskis
Description
Jane Trevaskis discusses her experiences as a resident of the Converse Home in Burlington, Vermont, during the COVID-19 pandemic. She discovered she had contracted the virus after her side of the house was shut down due to an outbreak and recalls that it made her sleep much more than usual. She especially talks about the loneliness of quarantine and how it affected her, noting that she had to find activities to keep herself occupied even before the pandemic made it a necessity. She describes herself as an "ardent vacciner" and shares her appreciation for the Converse Home's efforts to get vaccines out to their residents. She also mentions that while she does not like rules very much, she wished there were clearer rules and guidelines about mask-wearing during the pandemic.
Jane Trevaskis became a resident of the Converse Home, an assisted living community in Burlington, Vermont, in February 2019. She had previously lived in an apartment complex and joined the Converse Home community after a hospital stay. She spent much of her life in Washington, D.C., before deciding to move to Vermont to be closer to family members in the area.
At the time of this interview, the Converse Home in Burlington, Vermont, was the oldest assisted living community in Vermont, having been in operation for over 130 years.
