Description

April Shaw discusses the Vermont Department of Libraries' transition from their offices in Barre, Vermont, to working from home at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also shares her impressions of how state employees and school libraries interacted with digital services during the pandemic. On a personal level, she talks about the impact of school closures and the vaccine rollout on her family, including her young son's experiences in preschool and with receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

April Shaw was the Librarian of Government Services at the Vermont Department of Libraries from August 2017 until October 2024. Her duties focused primarily on interlibrary loan and acting as the librarian for state employees. She had previously served as a reference librarian at Vermont Technical College and as the Program Services Clerk for the Vermont Department of Libraries. She joined the Vermont Agency of Digital Services as a Systems Administrator in October 2024.
