Sue Fillion discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on both her family and her work as planning director for the town of Brattleboro, Vermont. She describes her transition to remote work as well as several specific projects related to housing and transportation. Although not directly related to her work at the planning department, she highlights Everyone Eats as a particularly significant program for Brattleboro. She talks about her children's transition to remote and hybrid learning and how their involvement in gymnastics was affected by the pandemic. She also touches on her pandemic experiences as a person living in New Hampshire but working in Brattleboro. She relates some challenges with the internet, which were eventually resolved when her hometown was able to improve high speed broadband access in 2021.

At the time of this interview in 2024, Sue Fillion had been employed by the town of Brattleboro, Vermont, for over fifteen years, including six years as their planning director. Her department was involved in land use regulations, zoning, and permitting as well as grant writing and managing grants.
