Oral history interview with Georgiana Carr
Description
Georgiana Carr discusses the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the public library and historical society in Canaan, Vermont, including programming and operational challenges. She shares that her life was less changed by the pandemic than others and describes her work to lessen isolation for older adults in the area, both through the library and Canaan Naturally Connected. She reflects on the difficulties specific to an area where most people need to travel for medical care and necessities like groceries. She also talks about grants that became available during the pandemic and mentions the library's hope to secure funding for an expansion to create more room for gatherings.
Georgiana Carr was born and raised in Canaan, Vermont. She was educated at Canaan Memorial High School and the Mary Fletcher School of Nursing. After completing nursing school in 1970, she had a career as a nurse in the area around Burlington, Vermont. She retired and moved back to Canaan shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic.
