Title

Oral history interview with Adam Boyce

Description

Adam Boyce describes his experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing especially on the lack of interaction with other people. He discusses the pandemic's impact on regular activities such as sugaring, musical performances, his wife's exercise classes, and a cruise they had planned for 2020. As a project that could be pursued online during lockdown, his interest in genealogy expanded and he joined numerous lineage societies during the pandemic. He also talks about various home renovations and the process of returning to playing live music. Changes at specific venues are explained in more detail, including senior meal sites in Royalton and Hancock, a friend's funeral, and the Cornish Fairgrounds.

Adam R. Boyce was born in Barre, Vermont, and grew up in Williamstown. He began playing music at an early age, eventually taking lessons from Harold Luce of Chelsea, Vermont. In addition to performing as a fiddler starting around 1991, his interest in history led him to extensively study the local traditional dance and music history of central Vermont. He has also given many living history presentations to audiences in Vermont and New Hampshire. He moved to West Windsor, Vermont, around 2009.
