Oral history interview with Howard Freed

Howard Freed speaks of growing up in Manhattan, having civil rights activist Bob Moses as a math teacher, fighting his father about going to Mississippi for Freedom Summer, and his medical education, particularly transferring from Cornell to Mount Sinai, a more community health-based program. He talks of coming to Vermont after receiving his medical license,volunteering at the Green Mountain Health Clinic in Brattleboro, Vermont, which was modeled after the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, and working with Weatherman Danny Stein, alias Danny Wight. As well, he discusses his emergency room work, the difference between his experience at the Putnam Memorial Hospital and the clinic in Brattleboro, Vermont, and details of how the clinic operated, including the high levels of venereal disease he encountered there.
