Oral history interview with Ellen David Friedman

Ellen David Friedman describes her development as a community organizer, beginning in high school with anti-war demonstrations and continuing at Harvard, where she participated in a number of sit-ins. She also speaks of her political evolution into a socialist and Marxist and how that shaped her life. She goes on to speak of coming to Vermont on her summer vacation in 1970 and living in an inflatable house with a group of guerilla architects, Southcoast, who were working at Goddard College, and returning each summer until her move here in 1974, when she took a job with Orange County Mental Health in Randolph, Vermont. She finishes with describing living and working in Chelsea, Vermont, her work with the Vermont Alliance, community and labor organizing, and progressive politics.
