Northfield has made it to the 21st century, but so far The Common area shows no sign of being as innovative as this futuristic postcard predicts! No blimps have been launched proclaiming "New York in one hour," and there has yet to be built a subway to Williamstown. The elevated train and trolley car stand out in sharp contrast to the horses & buggies parked in front of the stores. But hey! We were promised flying cars in the 1950's, and they are not here yet, either.
