2nd Vermont Battery National Guidon
Title
2nd Vermont Battery National Guidon
Description
National guidon of the 2nd Vermont Light Artillery Battery. Silk with red and white stripes, a blue canton and painted stars. May originally have had a swallowtail shape. Finial: iron spontoon-shaped point on brass base. No documentation on the presentation of this guidon has been found, but the 2nd Battery headed south in March of 1862. The flag probably came to Montpelier when the battery mustered out in Burlington in July of 1865.
