Image of young workers during the first Workers Clean up Day on May 28, 1914. Workers Clean up Day, a precursor to Green-up Day, was a day when residents of Barre would clean up trash that had accumulated on the sides of the roads and bring it all to the city dump. Participants young and old would be grouped together and tasked with a section of roadway to clean up for the day.
