Photograph of the Edward Dewey House at 120 State Street in Montpelier, Vermont. Edward Dewey, the brother of Admiral George Dewey, was the president of National Life Insurance Company, founded by his father, Julius Yemens Dewey. Edward Dewey moved his family home further down State Street to make room for the house, designed by George Guernsey of Montpelier, directly across the street from the Vermont State House. The house was moved to 128 State Street by the State of Vermont in 1948 to make room for a state office building at 120 State Street.
