Title

The Carrying Place

Description

"The Carrying Place", a narrow strip of land midway between the south and north portions of North Hero Island. The name comes from the Indians, who would carry their canoes across on their trips from Massachusetts to Montreal with their American captives. This particular view is of the old road, long before Route 2 was laid down.
