Title

Intersection of Routes 2 and 302, ca. 1880s

Description

This is how the intersection of Routes 2 and 302, looking southwest toward Barre, appeared in the 1880s. There was a road along the railroad tracks on the north side of the Winooski River. A footbridge and a covered bridge crossed the river. The big building in the center was eventually used for trolley cars. Some of the houses on the south side of the street still stand.
