Description
Included here are materials sent by Porter H. Dale to Ozi S. Law of Wallingford, Vermont, requesting his signature on an enclosed primary petition. Dale was seeking the Republican Party nomination for United States Senator. The envelope, postmarked August 25, 1923, included a letter from Dale, a pamphlet outlining Dale's biography and qualifications, a blank primary petition, and a stamped return envelope. On the cover of the pamphlet is a full page halftone portrait of Dale. Dale was a sitting US Congressman at the time this special primary to fill the seat opened by the passing of William P. Dillingham. Dale would go on to win this primary, as well as the general election.
