Description
This house at the corner of Church and Washington Streets, in Barre, Vermont, was the home of Dr. Orlando G. Stickney (1857-1944). Dr. Stickney moved to Barre in 1893. In 1904, he joined with fourteen other physicians to advocate for a hospital in Barre, which led to the incorporation of the Barre City Hospital Association, and the construction of the hospital within site of Dr. Stickney's house in 1914. The Vermont Historical Society's Leahy Library holds the Stickney Family Papers.
