Northfield, Vt. Dog River showing Drive Bridge
Title
Northfield, Vt. Dog River showing Drive Bridge
Creator
Huntley, E., Northfield, Vt., No. 32120
Description
A bucolic scene, showing a bridge over the Dog River, which connects the village downtown area to Water Street and other homes on the west side of town. Peaceful now, the Dog River wreaked havoc and destruction in both the November flood of 1927 and Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. Not visible in this postcard, many historic homes were destroyed on Water Street south when Irene hit. That area today has been developed into a park.
