Harriet's Postcard: Wind Pattern on Snow
Title
Harriet's Postcard: Wind Pattern on Snow
Creator
Ellis, Harriet B., Photographer
Description
This artistic winter scene was taken by Harriet B. Ellis, who, with her husband Benjamin, lived in Roxbury, Vermont. According to an article in the Dog River Crier, Harriet was selling her postcards at stores in Northfield in 1979, all of local scenes she had photographed. Harriet literally walked from Roxbury to Northfield and back daily, a distance of about 8 miles, rain or shine. As Harriet got older, she continued her daily walking. However, on occasion she would accept a ride from a local person who she knew, and as a thank you would hand them one of her postcards. The Society has several of her postcards in our collection, all different and all lovely scenes of Vermont.
