Boy Scout Troop 1, Northfield, Vt.
Title
Boy Scout Troop 1, Northfield, Vt.
Description
According to the donor of this postcard, who was a 1923 Northfield High School graduate, he thinks the picture was taken in front of the Northfield Trust Company after the scouts visited Jenkins Bakery (note the small sacks and treats some are holding). However, in our 1974 town history, "Green Mountain Heritage," it states that Troop #1 was first chartered in July 1934, by the Northfield Rotary Club. Yet in the same book, the Boy Scouts are also mentioned as being at the 1919 celebration of the return of Northfield's World War I soldiers. But I think we can be sure of the date, as the donor is in the photograph. He should know!
