Francis E. Kelleher letter WW 1 influenza letter.
Title
Francis E. Kelleher letter WW 1 influenza letter.
Creator
Kelleher, Francis Edward, 1891-1956.
Description
Letter dated October 11, 1918, written by Francis E. Kelleher of Montpelier, Vermont, to his future wife, Maizie Rumsey. In the letter, Kelleher briefly references the influenza epidemic, however, the gap following the first two paragraphs reflects the actions of a censor in deleting what was presumably a reference to an influenza outbreak affecting the troops in France.
Kelleher was trained as part of the mechanic's detachment at the University of Vermont, eventually moving to his regular assignment, the Army's 312th Supply Train, part of the 87th Division.
