Title

Oral history interview with Jennifer Boyer

Description

Jennifer Boyer speaks attending Beloit College, where she took part in anti-war demonstrations, dropping out and spending a summer in Europe, where she found out about Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. She enrolled at Goddard College in 1971, and describes spending the bulk of her time there in the Goddard pottery studio. During a non-resident term in her home town she met Tony Klein, who returned with her to Goddard. She then speaks of their move to Cabot, Vermont, building their house, the tension between newcomers and old-timers, their involvement in the Plainfield Food Co-op and their extensive social network. In the bulk of the interview, Boyer speaks of the development of her pottery business and the founding of Artisans Hand Craft Gallery in Montpelier, Vermont. She describes its organization and development, and the development of other state arts organizations, including Frog Hollow Crafts Center and the Vermont Crafts Council.
